WiFi Setup Instructions

The following instructions should assist students in accessing the wireless
access points in the gym, bookstore, and libraries. For Vista
Operating Systems, follow the second set of instructions |
General Laptop Wireless Access Instructions |
- Go to "My Network Places"
- Go to "Network Connections"
- Look for "Wireless Icon" - right click icon
- Go to "Properties"
- Click on "Wireless Network Tab"
- Click the "Add" button
- In the "Network Name" area type "cccstudent" (all lower case
letters)
- In the "Data Encryption" click the drop down arrow and click
"Disabled"
- Click "OK"
- Click "OK" again
A minute or two may
elapse before the connection occurs.

Vista WiFi
Instructions for Laptop

Go To System Tray

Click on WiFi symbol on
right side

Choose “Connect to Network”

Choose “Setup a connection
or network”
-
Choose “Manually connect to
a wireless Network"
-
Choose a Wireless adapter
-
Choose “Wireless Network
Connection”
-
Enter Network Name “cccstudent”
(all lower case letters)
-
Place check in “Start this
connection automatically”
-
Place check in “Connect even
if the network is not broadcasting”
-
Choose “Next”
-
Close
Note: Many newer laptops
have an on/off button for wireless access. Make sure this switch is
ON.

Mac WiFi
Instructions for Laptop

Go To System Preferences
-
Choose Network
-
Choose “Automatic” for
Location
-
Choose “Airport” for
Show
-
Choose “Preferred
Networks" for By default, join:
-
Click on the + sign
under the list of preferred networks
-
Enter Network Name “cccstudent”
(all lower case letters)
-
Choose the correct security,
if desired (it works leaving it at None)
-
Reboot
Note: Many newer laptops
have an on/off button for wireless access. Make sure this switch is
ON.
