Are you using AOL, CompuServe, MSN or Prodigy for
remote access to the Online Databases offered on the the Brewer Library/LRC
Web site?
AOL, CompuServe, MSN, and Prodigy users will experience difficulty
in accessing certain online databases via Off Campus access. This is the result of the
non-standard way that these providers handle referral pages. AOL,
CompuServe, MSN, and Prodigy users should follow the instructions below.
- As soon as you log on and the AOL (or CompuServe or Prodigy or MSN)
Home Screen comes up, minimize the screen by clicking on the small
square box with the underline ( _ ) sign in the upper right hand corner
of the screen.
- Click on the icon for the browser Netscape or the browser
Internet Explorer. (You must have either the browser Netscape
Communicator 7.x or higher, or, Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher loaded
on your computer.)
- Enter the URL for Brewer Library/LRC web site
http://lib.calhoun.edu/lib/.
- When the Library/LRC website comes up on the screen, click on the
words, ‘Online Databases (AVL)’.
- To search a database, select the database and click on the words/link
Off Campus.
- In the appropriate boxes, enter your Username (7-digit
Calhoun ID/employee number; if your ID is only six digits long you must
add a zero at the beginning: example, 0123456) and Password (your last name all in lowercase
letters).
- Click on Submit Form.

You can also email a librarian at reference@calhoun.edu. Questions called in or emailed
during hours the Library and LRC are closed will be answered promptly the
next work day.
