  • Library Catalog (includes books, eBooks, etc. held in Brewer Library and Huntsville LRC.)
  • Online Encyclopedias via the AVL and the Virtual Reference Desk.
  • Online Journals/Magazines/Newspapers - Thousands are available with full-text and all are accessible from home. The Calhoun Library is the only community college library in Alabama that offers remote access by authentication of the user. The distance learning student does not have to come to the Library or LRC to register. He/she has a Username and Password for remote access by virtue of registering for classes at Calhoun.
  • Username and Password for accessing Online Databases from Home.
  • How to Access AVL Online Databases from Home If Your Internet Provider is AOL, Prodigy, MSN or CompuServe
  • Virtual Reference Desk offers dictionaries, atlases, almanacs, handbooks, and other reference materials over the web.
  • Instructional Handouts to Library and LRC Resources
  • Over 46,000 full-text, eBooks can be accessed from the NetLibrary web site. Before access can be gained, the student must create a NetLibrary account  using a Calhoun networked computer—Decatur or Huntsville campuses—in order for NetLibrary to recognize the IP address of the computer. If you live out of state and cannot come to a Calhoun campus to create the account, you can email the head librarian at lmb@calhoun.edu. Once the account is created, you can login to NetLibrary and access the eBooks from any location.
