LRC and Journal Articles

The Learning Resources Center (LRC) on the Huntsville Research Park Campus is primarily an electronic resource center and is not meant to duplicate the holdings of the Brewer Library, Decatur Campus.

First, check to see if the title is held electronically in one of the online, full-text electronic databases.   Between the magazines, journals, and newspapers available online, there are thousands of journals and newspapers available electronically in full-text at the LRC.

A paper list of the Brewer Library magazine and journal holdings, along with indexes and bibliographies such as Short Story Explication have been placed in the collection at the Huntsville LRC.  You may locate citations in the index and verify if a particular title is held at the Brewer Library before making a special trip to the Decatur Campus. To determine literary titles held at Brewer Library, search the List of Literary Titles.

Borrower

Beginning Fall Semester 2002, Calhoun faculty, staff, and students will be required to obtain picture I.D. cards. The schedule and location for getting a College ID made varies by campus. To get the latest information, check the schedule maintained by Student Services at http://www.calhoun.edu/Bulletin/idcardschedule.html.  This I.D. card will also serve as the faculty/staff and student library card. Library and LRC checkout will only be permitted with the presentation of a Calhoun picture I.D. card, driver's license, or previous Calhoun library card, and proof of current enrollment must accompany all of these forms of identification on your first visit to the Library or LRC each semester.

Overdue Fines

Interlibrary Loans and Reserve Items $.50 per item per day

Overdue and Fine Notices

You will receive a due date receipt when you check out material.  Two additional notices will be sent once an item is overdue.  The first notice will be sent seven (7) days after the item is overdue.  You will be notified that the items are overdue.  If the item is not returned, on the 14th day the item is overdue a second notice will be sent.  You will be informed that you are being billed for the replacement cost of the item.

Students will be placed on Academic Hold.  If the item is still not returned on the 21st day that the item is overdue, then you will be sent a bill for the replacement cost of the item plus a $10.00 per item fee for processing.  Once an Academic Hold has been placed on the borrowers record, it is the responsibility of the borrower to return the items or pay the late fee before checking out additional library materials.  Check out will not be permitted without payment of fees.

Charges for Lost Materials

Softcover books $35  ($25 + $10 processing fee)
Hardcover books $50  ($40 + $10 processing fee)
Reserve books $45  ($35 + $10 processing fee)

If the value of the item you have lost or damaged is higher than these base fees, you will be charged the higher price plus the $10.00 processing fee.
