libbulletc.GIF (293 bytes)Borrower - Faculty, Staff, Student

Beginning Fall Semester 2002, Calhoun faculty, staff, and students were required to obtain picture ID cards.  Please check at the Warhawks Office in the Student Center in Decatur or at the administration office at the Huntsville campus for hours and locations for receiving these ID cards.  This ID card will also serve as the faculty/staff  and student library card.  Library and LRC checkout will only be permitted with the presentation of a Calhoun picture ID card, driver’s license, or previous Calhoun library card.  Proof of current enrollment must accompany all of these forms of identification on your first visit to the Library and LRC each semester.

libbulletc.GIF (293 bytes) Renewals

Students, Faculty, Staff and Administration receive at least one renewal on most items.  Since the New, Gift and Leased books collections are limited, there are no renewals on these items.  You can renew books by telephone or My Account.  To renew items by My Account, go to the Library's Online Catalog then click on My Account.  Enter your barcode number and pin.  The pin is the last 4 digits of the telephone number that you provided on your borrower application.  Click on “Items Out”.  Then check each item that you would like renewed and click the renew button.  The items will be renewed as long as they meet the criteria for renewal.  The new due date will appear next to the item.  Note: New, Gift and Leased items cannot be renewed.  Students: If your record has been placed on Academic Hold, you will not be allowed to renew books until the delinquency is settled.  Note:  Books may only be renewed one time online via "My Account."

libbulletc.GIF (293 bytes) Overdue Fines

Interlibrary Loans and Reserve Items $.50 per item per day

libbulletc.GIF (293 bytes) Overdue Fine Notices

You will receive a due date receipt when you check out material.  Two additional notices will be sent once an item is overdue.  The first notice will be sent seven (7) days after the item is overdue.  You will be notified that the item is overdue.  If the item is not returned, on the 14th day the item is overdue a second notice will be sent.  You will be informed that you are being billed for the replacement cost of the item.

Students will be placed on Academic Hold.  If the item is still not returned on the 21st day that the item is overdue, then you will be sent a bill for the replacement cost of the item plus a $10.00 per item fee for processing.  Once an Academic Hold has been placed on the borrowers record, it is the responsibility of the borrower to return the item or pay the late fee before checking out additional library materials.  Check out will not be permitted without payment of fees.

libbulletc.GIF (293 bytes) Charges for Lost Materials

Softcover books $35  ($25 + $10 processing fee)
Hardcover books $50  ($40 + $10 processing fee)
Reserve Books $45  ($35 + $10 processing fee)
Booktapes/CDs $25  ($15 + $10 processing fee)

If the value of the item you have lost or damaged is higher than these base fees, you will be charged the higher price plus the $10.00 processing fee.

A bill notice for the replacement cost per item will be sent when an item is overdue by 21 days.  If the item is returned in good condition after being billed, but before the replacement item is paid for, the total charge will be reduced to the maximum fine.  A refund of half the amount paid minus the processing fee will be granted for items returned, after the replacement item has been paid for.
