Beginning Fall Semester 2006, community borrowers are invited to check out items from the Calhoun Libraries. On your first visit to the library, you will be asked to complete a registration form.  You will be required to show a driver's license or military ID with current address and supply a social security number.  On subsequent visits simply present your library card or driver’s license in order to check out materials.

libbulletc.GIF (293 bytes) Overdue and Bill Notices

You will receive a due date receipt when you check out books.  Two additional notices will be sent once an item is overdue.  The first notice will be sent seven (7) days after the item is overdue.  You will be notified that the item is overdue.  If the item is not returned, on the 14th day the item is overdue a second notice will be sent.  You will be informed that you are being billed for the replacement cost of the item.

If you are a former Calhoun high school to college student, you will be placed on Academic Hold.  Academic Hold for Community members means that Calhoun will not release your transcripts.  If the item is still not returned on the 21st day that the item is overdue, then you will be sent a bill for the replacement cost of the item plus a $10.00 per item fee for processing.  Once an Academic Hold has been placed on the borrowers record, it is the responsibility of the borrower to return the item and pay the late fee before checking out additional library materials.  Check out will not be permitted without payment of fees.

libbulletc.GIF (293 bytes) Charges for Lost Materials

Softcover books $35  ($25 + $10 processing fee)
Hardcover books $50  ($40 + $10 processing fee)
Booktapes $25  ($15 + $10 processing fee)

If the value of the item you have lost or damaged is higher than these base fees, you will be charged the higher price plus the $10.00 processing fee.

A bill notice for the replacement cost per item will be sent when an item is overdue by 21 days.  If you return the item within a year, after you have paid the replacement cost, a refund of half the amount paid minus the processing fee will be refunded, as long as the item is in good condition.

libbulletc.GIF (293 bytes) My Account

Borrowers are able to access their library account online using "My Account".  To use this feature, go to http://lib.calhoun.edu/lib and click on Library Catalog "My Account".   Enter the barcode number from your library card, and pin.  The pin number is the last 4 digits of the telephone number that you provided on your application.  Click on "Items Out" to show all the items that you currently have checked out and the due date. You will not be able to renew items since you are a community borrower.
